तब केशव युधिष्ठिर का दर्शन करने की इच्छा से आगे बढ़े, यह सोचकर कि इस बीच कर्ण थकान से अभिभूत हो जाएगा। हे राजन्, तब धनञ्जय भी, बाणों से पीड़ित राजा को देखने की इच्छा से, केशव के आदेश पर युद्ध से विरत होकर, उस रथ पर शीघ्र आगे बढ़ा। जब कुन्ती का यह पुत्र धर्मराज युधिष्ठिर के दर्शन की इच्छा से आगे बढ़ रहा था, तब उसने सेना के प्रत्येक भाग पर दृष्टि डाली, किन्तु रणक्षेत्र में कहीं भी अपने ज्येष्ठ भ्राता को न पा सका। हे भारत, कुन्ती का वह पुत्र आगे बढ़ा — अपने गुरु द्रोण के पुत्र से युद्ध करके और उस वीर को परास्त करके, जिसे इन्द्र भी जीत नहीं सकते थे।

188 MAHABHABATA wilt then, O Partha, slay Kama !' Then Kesava proceeded, desirous of beholding Yudhishthira, thinking that Kama meanwhile, O monarch, would be overwhelmed with fatigue ! Then Dhananjaya, himself desirous of beholding the king afflicted with arrows, quickly proceeded on that car, avoiding the battle, at Kesava's command. While the son of Kunti was thus proceeding from desire of seeing king Yudhishthira the just, he cast his eyes on every part of the army but failed to find his eldest brother anywhere on the field. The son of Kunti proceeded, O Bharata, having fought with the son of his preceptor Drona, and having vanquished that hero incapable of being resisted by the wielder of the thunder-bolt, himself.' "
