भीम के भय से आतंकित होकर वे सब वहीं प्राण गँवा बैठे — उनके शरीर बाणों की मार से विदीर्ण हो गए थे। भीमसेन के शरों से छिन्न-भिन्न हुए रथी, अश्वारोही, गजारोही, सारथी, पदाति, अश्व और गज — इन सबसे वह धरती पट गई। हे राजन्, दुर्योधन की सेना भीमसेन के भय से पीड़ित और विदीर्ण होकर मानो मूढ़-सी खड़ी रह गई। वह विषण्ण सेना उस भयंकर युद्ध में इस प्रकार निश्चल खड़ी थी, जैसे शरद ऋतु में शान्त समुद्र स्थिर हो जाता है। हे राजन्, वह सेना उस शान्त सागर के समान ही स्तब्ध खड़ी रही। क्रोध, तेज और बल से सम्पन्न होने पर भी तुम्हारे पुत्र की वह सेना उस समय अपने गर्व से रहित होकर अपनी समस्त आभा खो बैठी। इस प्रकार संहार होते-होते वह सेना रक्त से सिक्त हो गई।
English Summary
Inspired with the fear of Bhima, they lay deprived of life, their bodies mangled with sounds. The Earth became strewn with car- warriors and horsemen and elephant- men and drivers and foot-soldiers and steeds and elephants all mangled with the shafts of Bhimasena. The army of Duryodhana, O king, cheerless and mangled and afflicted with the fear of Bhimasena, stood as if stupefied.
