वैशम्पायन ने कहा — तब वर्गा ने अर्जुन को सम्बोधित करते हुए अपनी बात पूर्ण की — "उस ब्राह्मण के वचन सुनकर हमने श्रद्धापूर्वक उन्हें प्रणाम किया और उनकी परिक्रमा की। फिर भारी हृदय लेकर हम उस स्थान से चल पड़े और मार्ग में यही सोचती रहीं — वह कौन-सा पुरुष होगा जो शीघ्र ही हमें हमारा पूर्व रूप लौटाएगा? हे भारत, इसी चिन्तन में डूबी हुई थीं कि क्षण भर में ही हमने देवर्षि नारद के दर्शन किए। उन अपरिमित तेजस्वी ऋषि को देखकर हमारे हृदय आनन्द से भर उठे। हे पार्थ, हमने उन्हें श्रद्धापूर्वक प्रणाम किया और लज्जावनत मुख लिए उनके समक्ष खड़ी हो गईं। उन्होंने हमारे दुःख का कारण पूछा और हमने सब वृत्तान्त उन्हें सुना दिया। सब सुनकर ऋषि ने कहा — दक्षिण समुद्र के तट पर नीचे की भूमि में पाँच पवित्र तीर्थ हैं। वे अत्यन्त रमणीय और परम पावन हैं। बिना विलम्ब किए वहाँ जाओ। पुण्यात्मा पाण्डु के पुत्र, पुरुषसिंह धनञ्जय शीघ्र ही निःसन्देह तुम्हें इस दुर्दशा से मुक्त करेंगे। हे वीर, ऋषि के वचन सुनकर हम सब यहाँ आ पहुँचीं। हे निष्पाप, आज सच ही तुमने मुझे मुक्त किया! किन्तु मेरी वे चार सखियाँ अभी भी यहाँ के अन्य जलाशयों में बन्दी हैं। हे वीर, उन्हें भी मुक्त करके यह पुण्य कार्य सम्पन्न करो।"
English Summary
Vaisampayana continued, — "Varga then addressing Arjuna, finished her discourse, saying, — Having these words of the Brahmana, we saluted him with reverence and walked round him. Leaving that region we came away with heavy hearts, thinking as we proceeded, — Where shall we all soon meet with that man who will give us back our own shapes (after our transformation ? ) — As we were thinking of It, in almost a moment, O Bharata, we beheld even the eminent celestial Rishi Narada. Beholding that Rishi of immeasurable energy, our hearts were filled with joy. Saluting him with reverence, O Partha, we stood before him, with blushing faces. He asked of us the cause of our sorrow we told him all. Hearing what had happened the Rishi said, — In the lowlands bordering on the southern ocean, there are five regions of sacred water. They are delightful and eminently holy. Go ye thither without delay. That tiger among men, Dhananjaya, the son of Pandu of pure soul, will soon deliver you, without doubt, from this sad plight I O hero, hearing the Rtshi's words, all of us came hither. O sinless one, true It is that I have to-day been delivered by thee ! But those four friends of mine are still within the other waters here. O hero, do a good deed by delivering them also !' '
