यह वचन कहकर, वह महाबाहु वीर, शत्रु-योद्धाओं का संहारक, यम अथवा अग्नि अथवा वायुदेव के समान तेज से युक्त एक बाण चलाया — जो दुःशासन को परलोक पहुँचाने में सक्षम था। वह बाण तीव्र गति से दुःशासन की छाती की ओर बढ़ा, उसके कंधे की सन्धि पर जा लगा और उसके शरीर में पंख तक धँस गया — जैसे सर्प बाँबी में प्रवेश कर जाता है। और शीघ्र ही अभिमन्यु ने पुनः एक बार यह अनुच्छेद मूल पाठ नहीं है, अपितु अंग्रेज़ी अनुवादक (गंगुली) की पादटिप्पणियाँ और पृष्ठ-शीर्षक हैं। इनमें अनुवाद योग्य कोई श्लोक या कथा-वचन नहीं है।
English Summary
With life thou shalt not escape me, if indeed, thou dost not abandon the battle.' Having said these words, that mighty-armed warrior, that slayer of hostile heroes, aimed a shaft endued with the splendour of Yama or of Agni or of the Wind-god, capable of despatching Duhsasana to the other world. Quickly approaching Duhsasana's bosom, that shaft fell upon his shoulder-joint and penetrated into his body up to the very wings, like a snake into an ant-hill.
