राजा की आज्ञा पाकर वे सभी नरेश अपने-अपने शिविरों को लौट गए। रात्रि सुखपूर्वक बिताकर, वे सब प्रसन्नचित्त होकर अगले दिन युद्ध के लिए निकले। तब उन्होंने देखा कि कुरुकुल के अग्रणी, धर्मराज युधिष्ठिर ने बृहस्पति और उशनस के विधान के अनुसार अत्यन्त सावधानी से एक अजेय व्यूह की रचना की है। तब शत्रुओं का संहार करने वाले दुर्योधन को वीर कर्ण का स्मरण हुआ — जो शत्रुओं का दमन करने में समर्थ था, जिसकी ग्रीवा वृषभ के समान थी, जो युद्ध में स्वयं पुरन्दर के तुल्य था, बल में मरुतों के समान था और तेज में कार्तवीर्य के बराबर था। राजा का मन कर्ण की ओर खिंच गया। और जैसे महान संकट के समय मन किसी प्रिय मित्र की ओर दौड़ता है, वैसे ही समस्त सैनिकों का मन भी उस वीर, सूत-पुत्र, महान धनुर्धर की ओर उन्मुख हो गया।
English Summary
Bidden by the king, all those rulers proceeded to their respective tents. Having passed the night happily, they cheerfully went out for battle (the next day).1 They then beheld an invincible array formed by king Yudhishthira the just, that foremost one of Kuru race, with great care, and according to the sanction of Vrihaspati and Usanas. Then that slayer of foes, viz., Duryodhana, called to mind the heroic Kama, that counter-actor of foes, that warrior with neck like that of a bull, equal to Purandara himself in battle, the Maruts in might, and Karta- virya in energy. Indeed, the heart of the king turned towards Kama. And the hearts of all the troops also turned to that hero, that Suva's son, that mighty bowman, as one's heart turns to a friend in a situation of great danger." 1 This is a verse in one line — T.
