टीकाकार के अनुसार यहाँ 'महायज्ञ' से अभिप्राय योग से है। जीवात्मा उस आहुति के समान है जो यज्ञ में डाली जाती है, क्योंकि योग के द्वारा जीवात्मा का विलय परमात्मा में हो जाता है। स्मृति-ग्रन्थों में इन तीन प्रकार के अथवा तीन स्तरों के विकारों के लक्षण विस्तारपूर्वक दिये गये हैं।
