सञ्जय ने कहा — इस वार्तालाप के पश्चात वे वीर तुम्हारे शिविर में प्रविष्ट हुए और उन्होंने राजकोष, अनेक रत्न तथा विपुल सम्पत्ति प्राप्त की। उन्हें चाँदी, सोना, मणि, मोती, बहुमूल्य आभूषण, कम्बल, चर्म, असंख्य दास-दासियाँ तथा राज्य-संचालन के लिए आवश्यक अनेक अन्य वस्तुएँ भी मिलीं। हे भरतकुलश्रेष्ठ, तुम्हारी उस अक्षय सम्पदा को पाकर उन महाभाग्यशाली वीरों ने, जिनके शत्रु का वध हो चुका था, ऊँचे स्वर में जयघोष किया। पशुओं को जुए से मुक्त कर पाण्डवों और सात्यकि ने कुछ समय वहीं विश्राम किया। तब महायशस्वी वासुदेव ने कहा — "मंगल के शुभारम्भ के रूप में हमें आज की रात शिविर के बाहर रहना चाहिए।" "ऐसा ही हो" — यह कहकर पाण्डव और सात्यकि वासुदेव के साथ उस शुभ कार्य की सिद्धि के निमित्त शिविर से बाहर चले गए। हे राजन, पवित्र ओघवती नदी के तट पर पहुँचकर निःशत्रु पाण्डवों ने उस रात वहीं निवास किया। तत्पश्चात उन्होंने यदुकुलभूषण केशव को हस्तिनापुर के लिए विदा किया। महापराक्रमी वासुदेव ने दारुक को रथ पर आरूढ़ कराया और जहाँ अम्बिकापुत्र धृतराष्ट्र थे, वहाँ की ओर शीघ्रता से प्रस्थान किया। शैव्य और सुग्रीव आदि घोड़े जुते हुए रथ पर चढ़ने से पूर्व पाण्डवों ने उनसे कहा — "जिसने अपने सभी पुत्र खो दिए हैं, उस असहाय गान्धारी को सान्त्वना देना।" पाण्डवों के इन वचनों को सुनकर सात्वतकुलश्रेष्ठ वासुदेव हस्तिनापुर की ओर चल पड़े और युद्ध में अपने सभी पुत्रों को खो चुकी गान्धारी के समक्ष उपस्थित हुए।
English Summary
"Sanjaya continued, 'After this conversation, those heroes enter- ed thy encampment and obtained the military chest, many jewels, and much wealth. And they also obtained silver and gold and gems and pearls and many costly ornaments and blankets and skins, and innumerable slaves male and female, and many other things necessary for sovereignty. Having obtained that inexhaustible wealth belonging to thee, O bull of Bharata's race, those highly blessed ones, whose foe had been slain, uttered loud cries of exultation. Having unyoked their animals, the Pandavas and Satyaki remained there awhile for resting themselves. Then Vasudeva of great renown said, 'We should, as an initiatory act of blessedness, remain out of the camp for this night !' Answeringi 'So be It !' the Pandavas and Satyaki, accompanied by Vasudeva, went out of the camp for the sake of doing that which was regarded as an auspicious act. Arrived on the banks of the sacred stream Oghavati, O king, the Pandavas, reft of foes, took up their quarters there for that night! They despatched Kesava of Yadu's race to Hastmapura. Vasudeva of great prowess, causing Daruka to get upon his car. proceeded very quickly to that place where the royal son of Amvika was. While about to start on his car having Saivya and Sugriva (and the others) joked unto It, (the Pandavas) said unto him, 'Comfort the helpless Gandhari who hath lost all her sons 1' Thus addressed by the Pandavas, that chief of the Satwatas then proceeded towards Hastinapura and arrived at the presence of Gandhari who had lost all her sons in the war.' "
