वहाँ वे रथी योद्धा अपने रथों से गिर रहे हैं — पाञ्चालों के विविध प्रकार के बाणों से जीवन-रहित होकर। हे धनञ्जय, वे महावेगशाली पाञ्चाल, धार्तराष्ट्रों के सवारहीन हाथियों, घोड़ों और रथों पर टूट पड़ रहे हैं। हे शत्रुदमन, वे योद्धा अपने प्राणों की भी चिन्ता न करते हुए, भीमसेन के बल से युद्ध में अजेय बने, शत्रु-सेना को कुचल रहे हैं। हे नरश्रेष्ठ, वहाँ पाञ्चाल ऊँचे स्वर में गर्जना कर रहे हैं और शङ्ख बजाते हुए शत्रुओं पर आक्रमण कर रहे हैं, तथा युद्ध में अपने बाणों से उन्हें विदीर्ण कर रहे हैं। उनके इस महान् तेज और पराक्रम को देखो। शुद्ध शौर्य के बल पर पाञ्चाल, धार्तराष्ट्रों का वैसे ही संहार कर रहे हैं जैसे क्रुद्ध सिंह हाथियों को मार डालते हैं। वे निःशस्त्र होते हुए भी सशस्त्र शत्रुओं के अस्त्र छीन लेते हैं और उन्हीं छीने हुए अस्त्रों से उन प्रहारकुशल शत्रुओं को मारते हैं और ऊँचे स्वर में गर्जना करते हैं। शत्रुओं के मस्तक और भुजाएँ कट-कटकर रणभूमि पर गिर रहे हैं। पाञ्चालों के रथ, हाथी और घोड़े सभी प्रशंसा के योग्य हैं।
English Summary
There, those car- warriors are falling from their cars, deprived of life by the unreturning Pan- chalas with shafts of diverse kinds. There the Panchalas of great speed, O Dhananjaya, are rushing against the riderless Dhartarashtra elephants and steeds and cars. Reckless of their very lives, O chastise r of foes, those warriors, difficult of defeat in battle aided by the might of Bhimasena are crushing, O tiger among men, the hostile force. There, the Panchalas are uttering loud roars and blowing their conchs as they are rushing against their foes and crushing them with their shafts in battle. Behold their great energy and power. Through sheer valour, the Panchalas are slaughtering the Dhartarashtras like angry lions slaying elephants. Unarmed they are snatching the weapons of their armed foes and with those weapons thus snatched, are slaying their foes that are effectual smiters, and uttering loud roars.
