सञ्जय ने कहा — (आगे) हे भारत, उस रक्त की गन्ध, स्पर्श, स्वाद, अत्यन्त लाल दृष्टि और उसके प्रवाह की ध्वनि से लगभग सभी योद्धा अत्यन्त निराश हो गए। तब भीमसेन और सात्यकि के नेतृत्व में पाण्डव वीरों ने उस पहले से ही पराजित सेना पर पुनः प्रचण्ड वेग से आक्रमण किया। पाण्डव वीरों के उस आक्रमण के अप्रतिरोध्य वेग को देखकर, हे राजन्, आपके पुत्रों की विशाल सेना रणभूमि से पीठ फेरकर भाग खड़ी हुई। रथों, अश्वों, हाथियों और पैदल सैनिकों से भरी वह आपकी सेना अब व्यूह-रचना से रहित हो गई थी — कवच और बख्तर अस्त-व्यस्त हो चुके थे, शस्त्र और धनुष हाथों से छूट गए थे। शत्रु के प्रहार से विचलित होकर वह सेना उसी प्रकार चारों दिशाओं में भाग गई, जैसे वन में सिंहों से पीड़ित हाथियों का झुण्ड भाग जाता है।
English Summary
Sanjaya said, — (continued) With the odour, the touch, the taste, and the exceedingly red sight of that blood and its rushing sound, almost all the combatants, O Bharata, became very cheerless. The Panda v a heroes then, headed by Bhimasena and Satyaki, once more rushed impetuously against that army already beaten. Beholding the impetuosity of that rush of the Panda v a heroes to be irresistable, the vast force of thy sons, O king, turned its back on the field. Indeed, that host of thine, teeming with cars and steeds and elephants and men no longer in compact array, with armour and coats of mail displaced and weapons and bows loosened from their grasp, fled away in all directions, whilst being agitated by the enemy, even like a herd of elephants in the forest afflicted by lions."
