भीष्म ने कहा — (आगे) तुम्हें पवित्र स्तोत्रों के रूप में नमस्कार है। तुम वही ऋषि हो जो ब्रह्माण्ड के सृष्टिकर्ताओं द्वारा किए गए सहस्र वर्षों के महायज्ञ में प्रकट हुए थे। तुम स्वर्णिम पंखों वाले महान हंस हो। हंस-रूप में तुम्हें नमस्कार है। समस्त प्रत्यय और विभक्तियों सहित धातुएँ तुम्हारे अंग हैं। सन्धियाँ तुम्हारे जोड़ हैं। व्यञ्जन और स्वर तुम्हारे आभूषण हैं। वेदों ने तुम्हें दिव्य वाक् घोषित किया है। वाक्-रूप में तुम्हें नमस्कार है। यज्ञमय अंगों से युक्त वराह का रूप धारण कर तुमने तीनों लोकों के कल्याण के लिए जलमग्न पृथ्वी का उद्धार किया था। अनन्त पराक्रम वाले रूप में तुम्हें नमस्कार है। तुम सहस्र फणों वाले नाग के शय्यारूपी आसन पर योगनिद्रा में शयन करते हो। तुम्हें नमस्कार है।
English Summary
"Bhishma said, — (continued) Salutations to thee in thy form of sacred hymns I Thou art the Rishi that hadst appeared in the great sacrifice extending for a thousand years performed by the creators of the universe. Thou art the great swan with wings of gold. Salutations to thee in thy form of a swan I§ Roots with all kinds of affixes and suffixes are thy limbs. The Sandhis are thy joints. The consonants and the vowels are thy ornaments. The Vedas have declared thea to be the divine word. Salutations to thee in thy form as the Word I1F Assuming the form of a boar whose limbs were constituted by Sacrifice, thou hadst raised the submerged Earth for the benefit of the three worlds.
