केशव के ये वचन सुनकर धृतराष्ट्र ने विदुर से कहा — "उस पापी दुर्योधन को, जो राज्य का इतना लोभी है, अपने मित्रों, मन्त्रियों, भाइयों और अनुयायियों सहित शीघ्र यहाँ ले आओ। मैं देखूँगा कि क्या एक और प्रयास करके उसे सन्मार्ग पर ला सकता हूँ।" धृतराष्ट्र के इस आदेश पर क्षत्री ने अनिच्छुक दुर्योधन को उसके भाइयों और उसके साथ आए राजाओं सहित पुनः सभा में प्रवेश कराया। तब राजा धृतराष्ट्र ने कर्ण, दुःशासन और उन सभी राजाओं से घिरे दुर्योधन को सम्बोधित करते हुए कहा — "हे पापों के भण्डार! नीच कर्म करने वालों को अपना सहायक बनाकर तू जो कार्य करना चाहता है, वह अत्यन्त निन्दनीय है। पापी मित्रों के साथ मिलकर तू जो करने का प्रयास कर रहा है, वह कुल के लिए कलंक है। अल्पबुद्धि होने के कारण तू ही ऐसा कार्य करने की सोच सकता है जो सज्जनों द्वारा निन्दित है और जिसे सिद्ध कर पाना असम्भव है। पापी सहयोगियों के साथ मिलकर क्या तू उस अजेय और अप्रतिरोध्य पुरुष को, जिसके नेत्र कमल-दल के समान हैं, दण्डित करना चाहता है? हे मूर्ख! जैसे कोई बालक चन्द्रमा पाने की इच्छा करता है, वैसे ही तू वह करना चाहता है जो वासव के नेतृत्व में समस्त देवता भी अपनी पूर्ण शक्ति से नहीं कर सकते। क्या तू नहीं जानता कि देवता, मनुष्य, गन्धर्व, असुर और उरग — इनमें से कोई भी केशव का युद्ध में सामना नहीं कर सकता? जैसे वायु को हाथों से नहीं पकड़ा जा सकता, जैसे चन्द्रमा तक हाथ नहीं पहुँच सकता, जैसे पृथ्वी को कोई अपने मस्तक पर धारण नहीं कर सकता — उसी प्रकार केशव को बलपूर्वक वश में करना असम्भव है।"
English Summary
''Hearing these words (of Kesava), Dhritarashtra addressed Vidura saying, — 'Quickly bring hither sinful Duryodhana, who is so covetous of sovereignty, with his friends, counsellors, brothers, and followers. I shall see if indeed, making one more effort I can bring him to the right path." "Thus addressed by Dhritarashtra, Ksbattri once more caused un- willing Duryodhana to enter the court with his brothers, and surrounded by the kings (that followed him). King Dhritarashtra then addressed Duryodhana, surrounded by Kama and Dussasana and all those kings, saying,— 'O wretch of accumulated sins, having for thy allies men of despicable acts, infamous is the deed that thou, uniting with sinful friends, seekest to do. Of little understanding, thou, infamy of thy race, one like thee alone can seek to do an act so infamous and disapproved by the good, however impossible It may be of being actually achieved. Uniting with sinful allies, wishest thou to chastise this invincible and irresistible one of eyes like lotus-leaves ? Like a child wishing to have the moon, seekest thou, O fool, to do what cannot be done by the very gods, headed by Vasava with all their strength ? Knowest thou not, that Kesava is incapable of being withstood in battle by gods and men and Gandharvas and Asuras and Uragas ? Like the wind which none can seize with his hands, like the moon which no hand can reach, like the Earth which none can support on his head, Kesava is incapable of being seized by force.'
