वहाँ वरुण के सरोवर में वह अग्नि है जिसकी ज्वालाएँ प्रचण्ड हैं, और वह विष्णु का चक्र है जो महान ताप के दीप्तिमान तेज से आवृत है। देखो, वहाँ वह विकट धनुष पड़ा है जो सृष्टि के विनाश के लिए बनाया गया था। देवता सदा अत्यन्त सतर्कता से इसकी रक्षा करते हैं, और इसी धनुष के नाम पर अर्जुन के धनुष का नाम पड़ा है। लाख धनुषों के समान बल से सम्पन्न यह धनुष युद्ध के समय जो शक्ति धारण करता है, वह अवर्णनीय है। यह राक्षस-स्वभाव वाले समस्त दण्डनीय दुष्ट राजाओं को दण्ड देता है। यह भीषण अस्त्र सर्वप्रथम वेदों के उच्चारणकर्ता ब्रह्मा ने बनाया था। महान आचार्य शुक्र ने कहा है कि यह अस्त्र समस्त राजाओं के लिए अत्यन्त भयंकर है। महान ऊर्जा से युक्त यह अस्त्र जलपति के पुत्रों द्वारा धारण किया जाता है। देखो, वहाँ छत्र-कक्ष में जलपति का छत्र है। यह मेघों के समान शीतल जलधारा बरसाता है। इस छत्र से गिरने वाला जल चन्द्रमा के समान निर्मल होते हुए भी ऐसे अन्धकार से आवृत रहता है कि कोई उसे देख नहीं सकता। हे मातलि, इन लोकों में अनगिनत अद्भुत दृश्य हैं। किन्तु यदि हम यहाँ और समय व्यतीत करें तो तुम्हारे कार्य में विलम्ब होगा। इसलिए हम शीघ्र ही इस लोक से प्रस्थान करेंगे।
English Summary
there, in Varuna's lake, is that fire of blazing flames, and that discus oi Vishnu surrounded by the lustrous splendour of mighty caloric. Behold, there lieth that knotty bow that was created for the destruction of the world. It is always protected with great vigilance by the gods, and It is from this bow that the one wielded by Arjuna hath taken its name. Endued with the strength of hu.idred thousand bows, the power It assumes at the hour of battle is indescribably great. It punishes all punishable wicked kings endued with the nature of Raksbasas. This fierce weapon was first created by Brahman, the utterer of the Vedas. The great preceptor Sukra hath said that this weapon is a terrible one in respect of all kings. Endued with great energy, It is held by the sons of the Lord of waters. Behold, there in the umbrella-room is the umbrella of the Lord of the waters. It droppeth refreshing showers like the clouds. The water dropped from this umbrella, though pure as the moon, is yet enveloped by such darkness that It cannot be seen by anybody. There, in these regions, O Matali, innumerable are the wonders to be seen. Your bimness, however, will suffer if we spend more time here. We, will, therefore, leave this region soon. — ' "
