भीष्म को जो भाग सौंपा गया था, वह अब शेष नहीं रहा — और उसी प्रकार महात्मा द्रोण को जो भाग दिया गया था, वह भी नहीं रहा। उन दोनों ने अपने निर्धारित भाग से भी आगे बढ़कर मेरे शत्रुओं का संहार किया। किन्तु वे दोनों नरश्रेष्ठ वृद्ध थे, और दोनों को छल से मारा गया। अत्यन्त दुष्कर कार्य सम्पन्न करके वे दोनों, हे निष्पाप, यहाँ से स्वर्ग को प्रस्थान कर गए। इसी प्रकार हमारी सेना के अन्य अनेक नरश्रेष्ठ भी, जो युद्ध में शत्रुओं द्वारा मारे गए, महान् पराक्रम दिखाकर और अपने प्राण त्यागकर स्वर्गलोक को गए।
English Summary
The share that had been allotted to Bhishma is now no more as also that which had been allotted to the high-souled Drona. Going even beyond their allotted shares, those two slew my foes. Those two tigers among men, however, were old, and both of them have been slain deceitfully. Having achieved the most difficult feats, both of them, O sinless one, have departed hence to heaven.
