हे उदारचित्त! जो मनुष्य सदा मेरे विषय में उन परम कल्याणकारी विषयों का चिन्तन करते हैं, जो सुनने वालों के समस्त पापों को नष्ट कर देते हैं — वे ही सच्चे भक्त हैं। जो मनुष्य मेरे प्रति अनुराग रखते हुए इन मधुर वचनों को सुनते हैं, मेरे गुणों का गान करते हैं और उन्हें हृदय से स्वीकार करते हैं, वे वास्तव में मेरी पूजा और ध्यान करते हैं — ऐसा कहा जाता है। अन्ततः ये मनुष्य मेरी कृपा प्राप्त कर लेते हैं। जो सत्यनिष्ठ और सदाचारी पुरुष मेरी कृपा पा चुका है, उसे और कुछ पाने की अभिलाषा नहीं रहती। क्योंकि उसने मुझे — जो अनन्त गुणों से सम्पन्न हूँ, जो परमात्मा हूँ और जो समस्त आनन्द का स्वरूप हूँ — पूर्णतः प्राप्त कर लिया है। जो मनुष्य ऐसे सत्यनिष्ठ और सदाचारी पुरुष की शरण लेता है अथवा उनकी सेवा करता है, वह तत्काल अपने समस्त पापों से मुक्त हो जाता है — जैसे अग्नि के निकट रहने वाला मनुष्य शीत और अन्धकार के भय से तुरन्त छुटकारा पा लेता है। यह ज्ञानसम्पन्न सत्यनिष्ठ और सदाचारी पुरुष उन समस्त प्राणियों का उद्धारक है, जो इस भयंकर संसार-सागर में कभी डूबते हैं और कभी तैरते हैं — जैसे नौका उस मनुष्य की सर्वोत्तम रक्षक होती है जो जल में डूबने को हो। इसके अतिरिक्त, जो मनुष्य इस संसार में अधोगति के भय से भयभीत हैं, उनके लिए सदाचारी पुरुष उसी प्रकार आधार है जैसे अन्न प्राण-रक्षा का एकमात्र साधन है। अथवा जैसे मैं अत्यन्त व्याकुल और अशान्त मनुष्यों की शरण हूँ, अथवा जैसे धर्म ही वह सम्पत्ति है जिसका मनुष्य परलोक में उपभोग करते हैं। सदाचारी पुरुष शाश्वत दृष्टि प्रदान करते हैं, किन्तु उदय होता हुआ सूर्य मनुष्यों को केवल बाह्य दृष्टि देता है।
English Summary
O magnanimous One! these men alone always reflect upon the most beneficial subjects referring to myself, which remove all sins of the persons listening to them. The men who with attachment to myself hear these agreeable speeches and chant hymns on me and approve them, are said to really worship, and devoutly meditate upon me. In the long run, these persons secure my favours. In fact, the honest and virtuous person who has already attained my favours, has nothing more to crave for, because he has wholly won me, who am possessed of innumerable attributes and who am the Supreme Spirit, and who am also identical with all pleasurable sensations. One taking shelter under, or serving, the honest and virtuous is at once liberated from all his sins—even as a person keeping by the fire, is instant- ly delivered from all fears, either of cold or darkness. The honest and virtuous person, conversant with the spiritual knowledge is indeed the saviour of all creatures who some- dme sink in and sometimes float on the most horrible ocean of the present existence, just as the boat is the best protec- tor of a person, who is about to be drowned in the waters. Again, the virtuous person is the supporting agent of men who are afraid of degradation in the present existence, even as cooked rice is the only expedient of maintaining the life; or asI am the refuge of men, who are highly disturbed and restless ; or as virtue constitutes the wealth, which men enjoy in the next world.
