अन्य गोपियों ने कृष्ण के ध्यान में अपनी समस्त इन्द्रियों की वृत्तियाँ रोक लीं और आत्मा के क्षेत्र में लीन होकर वे इस पृथ्वी के विषयों को भूल गईं। कुछ अन्य गोपियाँ शौरि के उन हृदयस्पर्शी वचनों का स्मरण करके मूर्च्छित हो गईं, जो प्रेमपूर्ण मुस्कान के साथ कहे गए थे और जिनमें अनेक मनोहर भाव भरे थे। मुकुन्द की सुन्दर चाल और उनकी लीलाओं का, उनकी तिरछी दृष्टि और मनोहर मुस्कान का, उनके शोकनाशक विनोदपूर्ण वचनों का और उनके निश्छल स्वभाव का स्मरण करके, तथा उनसे विछोह की कल्पना से भयभीत और व्याकुल होकर, अन्य गोपियाँ एक साथ एकत्र हुईं और अश्रुपूर्ण मुखों तथा कृष्णमय हृदयों से इस प्रकार बोलीं — गोपियों ने कहा — हाय विधाता! तुझमें दया का लेशमात्र भी नहीं रहा। तूने प्राणियों को प्रेम और मित्रता की अभिलाषा दी, किन्तु जब वे अपने प्रिय जनों का सुख भरपूर भोग भी न पाएँ, तभी तू उनमें वियोग उत्पन्न कर देता है। सच में तेरे कार्य किसी बालक की भाँति मनमाने और अविचारित हैं। एक बार हमें मुकुन्द का वह मुख दिखाया — जिसकी ललाट सुन्दर है, नासिका उन्नत है, और जो हरे-हरे घुँघराले केशों से ढका है, जो मुस्कान से शोभित और समस्त दुःखों को हरने में समर्थ है — और अब तू उसे हमारी दृष्टि से छीने लिए जा रहा है। यह तेरा कर्म अत्यन्त निन्दनीय है। तू सचमुच बड़ा कुटिल है, क्योंकि आज अक्रूर का रूप धरकर तू हमारी वे आँखें ही हमसे छीन रहा है, जो तूने हमें दी थीं — वे आँखें जिनसे हम तेरी सृष्टि की अद्भुत कला को निहारती थीं। हे विधाता, हम हृदय से इतनी व्याकुल हैं कि अब जीने की भी इच्छा नहीं रही।
English Summary
The other Gopees had the operations of their sense-organs stopped by a concentrated meditation on Krishna ; and being transported to the region of the soul, they did not perceive the objects of this earth. Others again fainted away, recollec- ting the heart-affecting speech of Souri, containing many choicest phrases and uttered with loving smiles. Remembering his graceful carriage and performances, his side-long glances accompanied by charming smiles, his witty repartees capable of destroying grief, and his candid behaviour, and being frigh- tened and afflicted at the thought of separation from Mukunda, others assembled and in a body thus spoke with their counte- nances flooded with tear and their hearts engrossed in Krishna. (8—18). i The auspicious wives of the cow-herds said :—"Alas! O Creator! Thou hast not even semblance of kindness left in thee. Thou hast gifted corporeal beings with affection and an inclination for forming friendship ; but before those beings have enjoyed to their hearts’ content the objects of their affec-" tion and friendship, thou dost bring about separation between them totally. Indeed thy actions are as whimsical as those of a mere child. Having once held in our view the counten- ance of Mukunda, furnished with a handsome forehead and an acquiline nose covered over with green ringlets of hair, and charming with a smile capable of destroying all grief, thou art now taking it away from our sight. This act of thine is very culpable.
