तू ही समस्त मनों का प्रेरक है, और समस्त वस्तुओं का आदि और अन्त भी तू ही है। समस्त तपस्या तुझमें निहित है, तू ही समस्त यज्ञों का मूर्त स्वरूप है, और तू ही सनातन है। हे कृष्ण, पृथ्वी-पुत्र असुर नरक का वध करके तूने उसके कुण्डल प्राप्त किये और प्रथम अश्वमेध यज्ञ सम्पन्न किया, जिसमें वह असुर ही यज्ञ का अश्व बना। हे समस्त लोकों के वृषभ, यह पराक्रम करके तू सर्वत्र विजयी हुआ। युद्ध में एकत्रित समस्त दैत्यों और दानवों का संहार करके, शचीपति इन्द्र को समस्त ब्रह्माण्ड का आधिपत्य प्रदान करके, हे महाबाहु केशव, तूने मनुष्यों में जन्म लिया। हे शत्रुसूदन, आदिकालीन जल पर विचरण करके तू हरि बना, ब्रह्मा बना, सूर्य बना, धर्म बना, धाता बना, यम बना, अनल बना, वायु बना, वैश्रवण बना, रुद्र बना, काल बना, आकाश बना, पृथ्वी बनी और दसों दिशाएँ भी तू ही बना। तू अजन्मा होते हुए भी चराचर जगत का स्वामी है, समस्त सृष्टि का रचयिता है, और समस्त सत्ताओं में सर्वश्रेष्ठ है। हे मधुसूदन, हे महातेजस्वी, चित्ररथ वन में तूने अपने यज्ञ द्वारा देवताओं के अधिपति, उच्चतम में भी उच्च, उस देवेश को तृप्त किया। हे जनार्दन, प्रत्येक यज्ञ में तूने सैकड़ों और सहस्रों की संख्या में स्वर्ण का यथाविधि वितरण किया। हे यादव-कुल के पुत्र, अदिति के पुत्र के रूप में जन्म लेकर, हे परम गुणों से विभूषित महात्मन्, तू इन्द्र के अनुज के रूप में विख्यात हुआ।
English Summary
art the mover of all minds, and the beginning and end of all things ! All asceticism resteth in thee, and thou too art the embodiment of all sacrifices, and the eternal one ! Slaying the Asura Naraka, offspring of the Earth— -first begotten, thou hadst obtained his ear-rings, and per- formed, O Krishna, the first horse-sacrifice, (offering up that Asura as the sacrificial horse) ! And, O bull of all the worlds, having performed that feat, thou hast become victorious over all! Thou hadst slain all the Daityasand Dan avas mustered in battle, and giving the lord of Sochi (Indra) the sovereignty of the universe, thou hast, O Kesava of mighty arms, taken thy birth among men ! O slayer of all foes, having floated on the primordial waters, thou subsequently - becamest Hari, l and Brahma and Swrya and Dharma, and Dhatri and Yama, and Anala, and Vayu, and Vaisravana, and Eudra, and Kola and the firmament, the earth, and the ten directions ! Thyself increate, thou art the lord of the mobile and the immobile universe, the Creator of all, O thou foremost of all exis- tences ! And, O slayer of Madhu, O thou of abundant energy, in the forest of Chitraratha thou didst, O Krishna, gratify with thy sacrifice the chief of all the gods, the highest of the high ! O Janardana, at each sacrifice thou didst offer, according to shares, gold by hundreds and thou- sands. And, O son of the Yadava race, becoming the son of Aditi, O ex- alted one of the supreme attributes, thou hast been known as the younger brother of Indra!
