कुशल शिल्पकारों द्वारा सोने की कढ़ाई से सजे और अनेक रंगों के वस्त्रों से बनाए गए वे ध्वज, पवन के झोंकों से हिलते हुए अर्जुन के रथ पर ऐसे चमक रहे हैं जैसे मेघराशि में बिजली की चमक हो। देखो, वे अन्य ध्वज भी वायु में लहराते हुए तीखी ध्वनि उत्पन्न कर रहे हैं। महात्मा पाञ्चालों के वे रथी, अपने रथों पर ध्वज-सज्जित पताकाएँ लगाए, हे कर्ण, देवताओं के दिव्य रथों पर आरूढ़ देवों के समान तेजस्वी प्रतीत हो रहे हैं। देखो, कुन्ती के वीर पुत्र, अजेय विभत्सु अर्जुन, अपनी पताका पर वानरश्रेष्ठ को धारण किए, शत्रुओं के विनाश के लिए आगे बढ़ रहे हैं। पृथापुत्र की पताका के शिखर पर वह भयंकर वानर दिखाई दे रहा है, जो शत्रुओं के भय को बढ़ाने वाला है और जिस पर चारों ओर से योद्धाओं की दृष्टि टिकी है। बुद्धिमान कृष्ण का सुदर्शन चक्र, कौमोदकी गदा, शार्ङ्ग धनुष और पाञ्चजन्य शङ्ख, तथा उनका कौस्तुभ मणि — ये सभी उनके साथ अत्यन्त शोभायमान दिख रहे हैं। महान तेजस्वी वासुदेव, शार्ङ्ग और गदा के धारक, वायु के समान वेगशाली उन श्वेत अश्वों को प्रेरित करते हुए आगे बढ़ रहे हैं। देखो, सव्यसाचिन् द्वारा खींचा गया गाण्डीव टंकार कर रहा है। उस महाबाहु वीर द्वारा छोड़े गए वे पैने बाण शत्रुओं का संहार कर रहे हैं।
English Summary
Made by skilful artists out of cloths embroidered with gold and of diverse hues, they are blazing with resplendence on Arjuna's car as they are shaken by the wind, like flashes of lightning in a mass of clouds. Behold those (other) banners producing sharp sounds as they wav e in the air. Those car-warriors of the high-souled Panchalas, with flag-decked standards on their vehicles, are looking resplendent, O Kama, like the very gods on their celestial cars. Behold the heroic son of Kunti, the unvanquished Vibhatsu (Arjuna) with that foremost of apes on his stand- ard, advancing for the destruction of the foe. There, on the top of Pratha's standand, is to be seen that terrible ape, that enhancer of the fears of foes, attracting the gaze (of warriors) from every side. The discus, the mace, the bow called Sarnga and the conch (called Panchajannya) of the intelligent Krishna, as also his gem Kaustubha, look exceedingly beautiful in him. The wielder of Sarnga and the mace, viz., Vasudeva, of great energy, cometh, urging those white steeds endued with the fleetneess of the wind. Yonder twangs Gandiva, drawn by Savyasachin.
