जैसे भीष्मक की पुत्री को सव्यसाची ने प्राप्त किया, उसी प्रकार हे मधुसूदन, अर्जुन ने स्वयंवर में मुझे जीता — वह कार्य करके जो दूसरों के लिए दुष्कर था, और वहाँ एकत्रित राजाओं से युद्ध करके। हे कृष्ण, इस प्रकार अनेक दुःखों से पीड़ित और महान संकट में, मैं धौम्य को आगे करके जी रही हूँ, किन्तु पूजनीया कुन्ती के सान्निध्य से वंचित हूँ। जो बलशाली हैं, जिनमें सिंह के समान पराक्रम है, वे शत्रुओं द्वारा मुझे इस प्रकार पीड़ित देखकर भी उदासीन क्यों बैठे हैं? क्या मैं इन तुच्छ, दुष्ट और पापाचारी शत्रुओं के हाथों ऐसे अपमान सहते हुए इतने काल तक शोक की अग्नि में जलती रहूँगी? मैं एक महान कुल में उत्पन्न हुई, और मेरा जन्म भी असाधारण रीति से हुआ। मैं पाण्डवों की प्रिय पत्नी हूँ और तेजस्वी पाण्डु की पुत्रवधू हूँ। हे कृष्ण, मैं स्त्रियों में श्रेष्ठ हूँ और अपने पतियों के प्रति एकनिष्ठ हूँ — फिर भी हे मधुसूदन, उन पाण्डवों के सम्मुख, जिनमें से प्रत्येक स्वयं इन्द्र के समान है, मुझे केशों से पकड़कर खींचा गया।
English Summary
34 MAHABHABATA Bhishmaka, even so Savyasachin, while residing there, obtained me ! O slayer of Madhu, Arjima won me in the Swayamvara, having performed a feat difficult of achievement by others and having fought also with the assembled kings ! Thus, O Krishna, afflicted with numerous griefs and in great dis- tress, am I living, with Dhaumya at our head, but deprived of the company of the adorable Kunti ! Why do these that are gifted with strength and possessed of the prowess of the 'lion, sit indifferently, beholding me thus afflicted by enemies so despicable ? Suffering such wrongs at the hands of wicked and evil-doing foes of small strength, am I to burn in grief so long ? Born I was in a great race, coming into the world in an extraordinary way ! I am also the belov ed wife of the Pandavas, and the daughter-in-law of the illustrious Pandu ! The fore- most of women and devoted to my husbands, even I, O Krishna, was seized by hair, O slayer of Madhu, in the sight of the Pandavas, each of whom is like an Indra himself !
