वैशम्पायन ने कहा — दाशार्ह कुल के उस श्रेष्ठ वीर ने सुभद्रा को स्त्रीधन के रूप में अग्नि के समान दीप्तिमान दस भार-वाहनों में भरा हुआ उत्तम स्वर्ण दिया — कुछ परिष्कृत और कुछ अयस्क रूप में। और हलधर राम, जो सदा वीरता से प्रेम करते हैं, उन्होंने अर्जुन को विवाह-उपहार के रूप में एक सहस्र हाथी दिए — जो पर्वत-शिखरों के समान विशाल थे, जिनके मस्तक, कर्ण और पश्च-भाग — इन तीनों स्थानों से मद की तीन धाराएँ प्रवाहित होती थीं, जो युद्ध में अजेय थे, जो आवरणों और घण्टियों से सुसज्जित थे, सुवर्ण-आभूषणों से अलंकृत थे, और जिनकी पीठ पर उत्तम आसन सजे हुए थे। यादवों ने जो विशाल धन और रत्नों की लहर भेंट की — जिसमें वस्त्र और कम्बल उसके फेन थे, हाथी उसके मगर और ग्राह थे, और ध्वज उसमें तैरती हुई वनस्पतियाँ थीं — वह विशाल प्रवाह पाण्डु-सागर में आकर मिल गया और उसे पूर्ण रूप से भर गया, जिससे समस्त शत्रुओं को महान् दुःख हुआ। युधिष्ठिर ने वे सभी उपहार स्वीकार किए और वृष्णि तथा अन्धक कुल के उन महान् योद्धाओं का यथोचित सम्मान किया। वे सभी तेजस्वी वीर थे।
English Summary
Vaisampayana continued,— (continued) That foremost one of Dasarha's race also gave unto Subhadra as her peculium ten carrier-loads of first class gold possessing the splendour of tire, some purified and some in a state of ore. And Rama having the plough for his weapon and always loving bravery gave unto Arjuna, as a nuptial present, a thousand elephants with secretions flowing in three streams from the three parts of their bodies (the temple, the ears, and the anus) each large as a mountain summit, irresistible in battle, decked with coverlets and ever-ring bells, well- adorned with other golden ornaments, and equipped with excellent thrones on their backs. And that large wave of wealth and gems that th« Yadavas presented, together with the cloths and blankets that represented its foam, and the elephants its alligators and sharks, and the flagi its floating weeds, swelling into large proportions, mingled with the Pandu ocean and filled It to the brim, to the great sorrow of all foes.
