जो इन्द्र या किसी अन्य देवता द्वारा — यम, वरुण अथवा कोषाधिपति कुबेर द्वारा भी — पराजित नहीं किए जा सकते। हे मातलि, यहाँ वे असुर निवास करते हैं जो विष्णु से उत्पन्न हुए और कालखञ्ज कहलाते हैं, तथा वे राक्षस भी जो ब्रह्मा के चरणों से उत्पन्न हुए और युतुधान कहलाते हैं। ये सभी भयंकर दाँतों से युक्त हैं, इनका वेग भयावह है, इनकी गति और पराक्रम वायु के समान है, और माया पर आधारित महान ऊर्जा से ये सम्पन्न हैं। इनके अतिरिक्त, निवातकवच नामक दानवों का एक और वर्ग यहाँ निवास करता है, जो युद्ध में अजेय हैं। तुम भली-भाँति जानते हो कि इन्द्र भी इन्हें जीतने में असमर्थ रहे हैं। हे मातलि, अनेक बार तुम अपने पुत्र गोमुख सहित, और शची के स्वामी देवराज इन्द्र अपने पुत्र सहित, इनके सामने से पीछे हटने को विवश हुए हैं। हे मातलि, इनके भवनों को देखो — ये सब चाँदी और सोने से निर्मित हैं और शिल्पशास्त्र के नियमों के अनुसार सुसज्जित हैं। ये सभी प्रासाद वैदूर्यमणि और मूँगों से अलंकृत हैं, अर्कस्फटिक की आभा और वज्रसार मणि के प्रकाश से देदीप्यमान हैं। इनमें से अनेक भव्य आवास ऐसे प्रतीत होते हैं मानो पद्मराग मणियों की कान्ति से, अथवा उज्ज्वल संगमरमर से, अथवा उत्तम काष्ठ से निर्मित हों। ये सूर्य के समान अथवा प्रज्वलित अग्नि के समान तेजस्वी हैं। रत्नों और मणियों से अलंकृत ये सभी भवन अत्यन्त ऊँचे हैं और एक-दूसरे के समीप खड़े हैं। विशाल आकार और अद्भुत स्थापत्य-सौन्दर्य से युक्त इन भवनों के निर्माण में किस सामग्री का उपयोग हुआ है और इनके सौन्दर्य का वर्णन किस प्रकार किया जाए — यह कहना असम्भव है। सच तो यह है कि अपनी सजावट के कारण ये अत्यन्त मनोहर हैं।
English Summary
incapable of being vanquished by Sakra or any other celestial, that is, by either Yama, or Varuna, or the Lord of treasures (Kuvera). Here dwell, O Ma tali, those Asuras called Kalakhan/as who sprang from Vishnu, and those Rakshasas also called Yutudhanas who sprang from the feet of Brahman. All of them are endued with frightful teeth, terrible impetus, the speed and prowess of the wind, and great energy depending on powers of illusion. Besides these, another class of Danavas called Nivatakavachas, who are invincible in battle, have their abode here. Thou knowest how Sakra is unable to vanquish them. Many times, O Matali, tbou, with thy son Gomukha, and the chief- of the celestials and lord of Sachi, along with his son, had to retreat before them. Behold their homes, O Matali, that are all made of silver and gold, and well-adorned with decorations done according to the rules of art. All those mansions are decked with lapis lazuli and corals, and made effulgent with the lustre of the Arkasphatika, and the radiance of gem called Vajrasara. And many of those palatial residences seem, as if, they have been made of the shine of these gems called Padmaragas, or of bright marble, or of excellent wood. And they are also possessed of the radiance of the sun( or blazing fire. And all the ediSces, adorned with gems and jewels, are very high and stand close to another. Of spacious proportions and great architectural beauty, It is impossible to say of what material these mansions are built or to describe their style of beauty. Indeed, they are exceedingly beautiful in consequence of their decorations.
