शुकदेव ने कहा — हे राजन्! योग के मार्ग का वह उपदेश सुनकर और परम धर्मात्मा प्रभु के वचन श्रवण करके उद्धव की आँखें अश्रुओं से भर आईं और उनका कण्ठ अवरुद्ध हो गया। उन्होंने प्रभु की स्तुति करने के लिए हाथ जोड़े, किन्तु मुख से कोई शब्द न निकल सका। तब उन्होंने धैर्य से अपने प्रेम-विह्वल हृदय को वश में किया और स्वयं को कृतार्थ अनुभव किया। तत्पश्चात् उन्होंने यदुश्रेष्ठ के चरण-कमलों पर अपना मस्तक रखा और हाथ जोड़कर इस प्रकार बोले — उद्धव ने कहा — हे अजन्मे! हे आदिस्वरूप! आपकी कृपामयी उपस्थिति से वह मोह का अन्धकार, जिसमें मैं अब तक आवृत था, सर्वथा विनष्ट हो गया। जो व्यक्ति सूर्य के समीप हो, क्या उसे शीत अथवा अन्धकार का भय हो सकता है? हे प्रभो! आपने अपने इस सेवक पर कृपा करके सच्चे आत्म-ज्ञान का प्रकाश प्रदान किया है। जो भक्त यह जानता हो कि आप अपने सेवकों पर किस प्रकार अनुग्रह करते हैं, वह आपके चरण-कमलों का आश्रय छोड़कर किसी अन्य की शरण में कैसे जाएगा? अपनी सृष्टि के विस्तार के निमित्त आपने अपनी माया-शक्ति द्वारा दाशार्ह, वृष्णि, अन्धक और सात्वत वंशों के प्रति मेरे हृदय में स्नेह का बन्धन बाँधा और उसे दृढ़ किया। किन्तु अब आपने आत्म-ज्ञान की तीक्ष्ण तलवार से उस बन्धन को काट भी दिया। हे भक्तश्रेष्ठ! मैं आपको प्रणाम करता हूँ। आप अपने इस सेवक उद्धव को ऐसा उपदेश दीजिए जिससे आपके चरण-कमलों में उसकी दृढ़ भक्ति बनी रहे।
English Summary
The auspicious Sukadeva said, O monarch! having heard the aforesaid instructions regarding the path of the yoga, and also having listened to the speech of the most righteous Lord, the eyes of Uddhava were overflowed with tears ; and his voice also was suddenly choked up. Then he folded his hands with a view to utter prayers unto God, but he failed to speak any words. Thereupon he subdued his love-striken heart by patience, and he considered him- self to be most successful. Thereafter he laid down his head upon the lotus-like feetof the most exalted of the Yadus ; and addressed him with joined hands, saying :— The auspicious Uddhava said :—0 thou who art un- born! O thou who art the beginning ! the delusive dark- ness, which I have as yet been subject to, has now been wholly dispersed by thy presence. As a matter of fact, can either coldness or the horror of darkness feta any influence over a person, who is very near the sun ? O Lord! thou hast kindly revealed unto me, thy servant, the light of true spititual consciousness. ‘What faithful person, knowing how thou dost show favours unto thy servants, will ever forsake thy sheltering feet, and will go to take refuge under anothers? With the object of extending thy creation, ‘thou hast caused by thy illusory energy the chord of my affection to stretch over the races of the Dasharhas, the Vrishnis, the Andhakas, and the Satyatas. Thou hast imparted strength to that chord. But again, thou hast severed it by the sharp sword of self- consciousness. O thou the most exalted of the devotees! Ido bow down unto thee. Do thou instruct thy servant, Uddhava, in such a way that he shall have firm attachment to thy lotus-like feet.
