भरतवंशियों में श्रेष्ठ! मालयवत पर्वत की चोटी पर सदा वह अग्नि दिखाई देती है जिसे सांवर्तक कहते हैं — यह युग के अन्त में समस्त सृष्टि के विनाश के लिए प्रज्वलित होती है। मालयवत की पूर्व दिशा में अनेक छोटे-छोटे पर्वत हैं। हे राजन्, मालयवत की विस्तार ग्यारह हजार योजन है। वहाँ जन्म लेने वाले मनुष्य स्वर्ण के समान वर्ण के होते हैं। वे सभी ब्रह्मलोक से च्युत हुए हैं और ब्रह्म के उच्चारणकर्ता हैं। वे अत्यन्त कठोर तपस्या करते हैं और उनका वीर्य ऊर्ध्वगामी होता है। प्राणियों की रक्षा के लिए वे सभी सूर्य में प्रवेश करते हैं। छियासठ हजार की संख्या में वे अरुण से आगे चलते हुए सूर्य को चारों ओर से घेरे रहते हैं। छियासठ हजार वर्षों तक सूर्य की किरणों की तपन सहने के पश्चात् वे चन्द्रमण्डल में प्रवेश करते हैं।
English Summary

Heated with the sun's rays for sixty-six thousand years, they then enter the lunar disc.' v
