वाहीक लोग हितकर परामर्श से चिढ़ते हैं, और मद्रकों में तो ऐसा कोई है ही नहीं जिसका उल्लेख किया जा सके। हे शल्य, तुम भी वैसे ही हो। तुम्हें मुझे उत्तर नहीं देना चाहिए। मद्रक लोग इस पृथ्वी पर प्रत्येक जाति की मलिनता माने जाते हैं। इसी प्रकार मद्र-स्त्री समस्त नारी-जाति की मलिनता कही जाती है। जिनके आचरण में मद्यपान है, गुरु-पत्नी के शयन का उल्लंघन है, गर्भ का नाश करना है, और दूसरों का धन हरण करना है — ऐसा कोई पाप नहीं जो उन्होंने न किया हो। आरट्ट देश और पञ्चनद प्रदेश के लोगों पर धिक्कार है। यह सब जानकर चुप रहो। मेरा विरोध करने का प्रयास मत करो। ऐसा न हो कि पहले तुम्हारा वध करके फिर मुझे केशव और अर्जुन को मारना पड़े।
English Summary
The Vahikas resent beneficial counsels ; as regards the Madrakas there are none amongst those (mentioned abov e.) Thou, O Salya, art so. Thou shouldst not reply to me. The Madrakas are regarded on Earth as the dirt of every nation. So the Madra woman is called the dirt of the whole female sex. They that have for their practices the drinking of spirits, the v iolation of the beds of their preceptors, the destruction of the embryo by procuring miscarriage, and the robbing of other people's wealth, there is no sin that they have not. Fie on the Arattas and the people of the country of the five rivers. Know- ing this, be silent. Do not seek to oppose me. Do not let me slay Keshava and Arjuna, having slain thee first.' "
