भगवान् ने कहा — मैं तुम्हें वे परम मंगलकारी गुण बताऊँगा, जिनका श्रद्धापूर्वक आचरण करने से मनुष्य मृत्यु को भी जीत लेता है। यद्यपि मृत्यु पर विजय पाना अत्यन्त कठिन है, तथापि जो मनुष्य अपने सम्पूर्ण हृदय और बुद्धि को मुझमें समर्पित कर देता है, उसकी आत्मा और मन दोनों ही मेरे गुणों में प्रेम पा लेते हैं। इसी प्रकार, मेरा स्मरण करते हुए, अपने लिए किसी फल की चिन्ता किये बिना, सभी सत्कर्म करने चाहिए। इस विषय में यह विधान किया गया है — जो देश सज्जन और धर्मात्मा पुरुषों द्वारा रक्षित हों, जहाँ मेरे प्रति श्रद्धा और भक्ति का भाव हो, ऐसे पवित्र स्थानों में निवास करना चाहिए। देवताओं, असुरों और मनुष्यों में जो मेरे भक्त हैं, उनके आचरण का अनुसरण करना चाहिए। मेरे भक्तों को सदा यत्नशील रहना चाहिए कि नृत्य, संगीत और अन्य सभी प्रकार के पवित्र उत्सव मनाये जाएँ। राजाओं को भी प्रेरित करना चाहिए कि वे मेरे स्नेहपूर्ण स्मरण में उत्सव, धार्मिक आयोजन और संगीत-सभाएँ आयोजित करें। समस्त मलों से शुद्ध होकर, मेरे स्वरूप का दर्शन करना चाहिए — जो परब्रह्म के सार के समान है, खुले आकाश के समान है, और जो समस्त प्राणियों में तथा अपने भीतर भी विद्यमान है। हे परम ज्ञानी! जो मनुष्य ज्ञान के प्रकाश में समस्त प्राणियों को मेरे ही स्वरूप के समान देखता है और उनकी उसी भाव से सेवा करता है — वही सच्चा ज्ञानी है। वह ब्राह्मण और चाण्डाल में, ब्राह्मण को धन देने वाले और उसका धन चुराने वाले में, सूर्य और एक चिनगारी में, तथा कपटी और सरल पुरुष में — कोई भेद नहीं करता।
English Summary
_ The auspicious God said :—I will relate unto thee the ‘most pleasing virtues; by the exercise of which; with rever- ‘ence, men are able to subdue Death. Indeed, Death can be ‘conquered’ with the greatest difficulty. Both the soul and the mind secure love for my virtues by the resignation of ‘the whole heart and intelligence unto myself. In similar ‘way, by reécollecting me, all the virtuous deeds should be performed without anxiety for myself.: The following has Been énjoined in'this connection :— “One should. inhabit the sacted countries, protected by ‘the honest and virtuous Persons, full of reverence for my- e ‘self, and should follow such actions as are adopted by my ‘worshippers amongst the celestials, demons and men. Again, ‘my worshippers should always be very earnest about celebrating all sorts of sacred performances, such:as dancing and music; and also they will influencé the monarchs to commemorate festivities, as well as tohold religious and musical gatherings in affectionate remembrance of myself. i Again, becoming free from all impurities, one should observe my personality, that is like unto the essence of the Supreme Spirit, that is like the open sky, to be- ‘Present in all creatures, as well as inone’s own self. O the most enlightened one! that man who, by the light of knowledge, beholds all creatures to be like unto’ my own personality, and serves them as such is a Wise one. It is that man also, who makes no distinction between a regenerate person and a chandala (one belonging to the lowest sect of Hindus ), between individuals giving wealth unto the Brahmana, or stealing away what is possessed by him, between the sun anda spark and between the deceit ful and the honest.
