उसने जो जल, सरोवर, पर्वत, नदियाँ और वन देखे थे, उन सभी का वर्णन करते-करते वह उस दिव्य शय्या पर लेट गया और, हे जनमेजय, उसे निद्रा आ गई। प्रातःकाल वीणा के मधुर स्वरों, मनोहर गीतों तथा बन्दीजनों की स्तुतियों और आशीर्वचनों से वह जागा। आवश्यक नित्यकर्म और विधियाँ सम्पन्न करने के पश्चात् वृष्णिकुलभूषण ने उसे स्नेहपूर्वक सम्बोधित किया। तत्पश्चात् वह वीर सुवर्णमय रथ पर आरूढ़ होकर यादवों की राजधानी द्वारका की ओर चल पड़ा। हे जनमेजय, कुन्ती के पुत्र के सम्मान में द्वारका नगरी भली-भाँति सजाई गई थी — उसके समस्त उद्यान और भवन सब अलंकृत किए गए थे। कुन्तीपुत्र के दर्शन की अभिलाषा से द्वारका के नागरिक लाखों की संख्या में राजमार्गों पर उमड़ पड़े। चौराहों और राजमार्गों पर सैकड़ों-हजारों स्त्रियाँ पुरुषों के साथ मिलकर भोज, वृष्णि और अन्धक वंशियों की उस विशाल भीड़ में सम्मिलित हो गईं। भोज, वृष्णि और अन्धक वंशों के समस्त पुत्रों ने अर्जुन का आदरपूर्वक स्वागत किया। अर्जुन ने भी वन्दनीय जनों को प्रणाम किया और उनके आशीर्वाद ग्रहण किए। यादव वंश के समस्त युवकों ने उस वीर का स्नेहपूर्ण स्वागत किया। जो उसके समवयस्क थे, उन सबको उसने बारम्बार आलिंगन किया। तत्पश्चात् वह रत्नों और समस्त भोग-सामग्री से परिपूर्ण कृष्ण के उस रमणीय भवन में गया और वहाँ कृष्ण के साथ अनेक दिनों तक निवास किया। इस प्रकार आदि पर्व के अर्जुनवनवास पर्व का दो सौ बीसवाँ अध्याय समाप्त होता है।
English Summary
waters, the lakes and the mountains, the rivers and the forests he had seen. While he was speaking of these, stretched upon that celestial bed, sleep, O Janamejaya, stole upon him. He rose in the morning, awakened, by sweet songs and melodious notes of the Vina (guitar) and the penegy- rics and benedictions of the bards. After he had gone through the necessary acts and ceremonies, he was affectionately accosted by him of the Vrishni race. Riding upon a golden car, the hero then set out for Dwaraka, the capital of the Yadavas. And, O Janamejaya, for honouring the son of Kunti, the city of Dwaraka, was well-adorned, even all the gardens and houses within It. The citizens of Dwaraka, desirous of beholding the son of Kunti, began to pour eagerly into the public throroughfares by hundreds of thousands. In the public squares and thoroughfares, hundreds and thousands of women, mixing with the men, swelled the great crowd of the Bhojas, the Vrishnis, and the Andhakas, that had collected there. Arjuna was welcomed with respect by all the sons of Bhojas, the Vrishnis, and the Andhakas. And he, in his turn, worshipped those that deserved his worship, receiving their blessings. The hero was welcomed with affec- tionate reception by all the young men of the Yadava tribe. He re- peatedly embraced all that were equal to him in age. Wending then to the delightful mansion of Krishna that was filled with gems and every article of enjoyment, he took up his abode there with Krishna for many days." Thus ends the two hundred and twentieth section in the Arjuna- vanavasa Parva of the Adi Parva.
