भगवान् ने कहा — इस नगर पर चारों ओर से भयंकर अपशकुन छा रहे हैं। ब्राह्मणों ने हमारे कुल पर जो शाप दिया है, वह अत्यन्त दुस्तर है। यदि हम जीवित रहना चाहते हैं, तो यहाँ अब और नहीं ठहरना चाहिए। आज ही, बिना किसी विलम्ब के, हम सब पवित्र तीर्थ प्रभास की ओर चलें। दक्ष के शाप से क्षयरोग से पीड़ित चन्द्रमा ने इसी पवित्र स्थान में स्नान करके अपने पापों से मुक्ति पाई थी और अपनी कान्ति पुनः प्राप्त की थी। हम भी वहाँ पितरों और देवताओं को तर्पण करके, श्रेष्ठ ब्राह्मणों को नाना प्रकार के अन्न से तृप्त करके, और सुपात्र जनों को श्रद्धापूर्वक दान देकर, अपने पापों को उसी प्रकार पार कर लेंगे जैसे नाव के सहारे समुद्र पार किया जाता है। शुकदेव जी ने कहा — हे कुरुवंशी, भगवान् की यह आज्ञा पाकर यादवों में तीर्थयात्रा की इच्छा जागी और वे अपने वाहन तैयार करने लगे। हे राजन्, उसी समय भगवान् के वचन सुनकर और अपशकुनों को देखकर, सदा कृष्ण के प्रति समर्पित उद्धव एकान्त में उनके पास आए। उन्होंने जगत् के स्वामी और सबके विधाता के चरण स्पर्श किए और हाथ जोड़कर कहा — हे देवराज के प्रिय, हे तपस्वियों के स्वामी, हे उन प्रभु जिनका यश सुनना भी पवित्र करता है और जिनका गुणगान करना भी पावन है — आप इस कुल का संहार करके इस लोक को छोड़ने वाले हैं, यह निश्चित है। आप समर्थ होते हुए भी ब्राह्मणों के शाप को विफल नहीं करते, क्योंकि आप ही सबके ईश्वर हैं। हे केशव, हे प्रभु, आपके चरणकमलों को मैं आधे क्षण के लिए भी नहीं छोड़ सकता। मुझे भी अपने धाम ले चलिए।
English Summary
The.auspicious Lord said :—Mighty portents are’ ovet+ taking this city on all sides. The curse that has been impre- cated on our family by the Brahmanas, is hard to be’ got over. If we wish to live, we should not remain here any longer. Let us even this very day without any delay repair to the highly sacred pilgrimage of Pravasa. The Moon being attacked with consumption, consequent upon the imprecation of the curse by Daksha, was freed from his sins by bathing in this holy place, and regained his rays—we shall also by offering oblation to our ancestral manes and celestials, and feeding the best Brahmanas with tice of diverse qualities, and reverentially distributing gifts amongst those worthy persons, get Over our sins as one crosses the ocean by the help of a bark. The auspicious Sukadeva said -—Being thus commanded by the Lord, O descendant of the Kurus the Yadavas be- came desirous of going to the sacred shrine, and began to get ready their conveyances. O king, thereat, hearing the words of the Lord and beholding the portents, Uddhava always devoted to Krishna, came to him in a solitary place; and touching the feet of the Lord of the Universe, and the Ordainer of all, and with folded hands said :— Op sang of the king of the celestials, O lord of asceti- cism, O thou, to listen to whose glories is sacred, to chant whose praise is holy, for sooth thou shalt, destroying this family leave this world; for thou art the Lord, and al- though capable, thou dost not foil the curse of the Brahmanas, “O Keshava, O lord, even for half a moment I dare not leave off thy lotus feet ; do thou take me also to thy own region.
