वैशम्पायन ने कहा — इस प्रकार दाशार्ह-वंशी कृष्ण के वचन सुनकर, दुःशासन ने कुरुओं की सभा के मध्य दुर्योधन से ये वचन कहे — "हे राजन्, यदि तुम स्वेच्छा से पाण्डवों के साथ सन्धि नहीं करते, तो निश्चय ही कौरव तुम्हें बाँधकर कुन्ती-पुत्र को सौंप देंगे। भीष्म, द्रोण और तुम्हारे पिता — हे नरश्रेष्ठ — हम तीनों को, अर्थात् विकर्तन-पुत्र को, तुम्हें और मुझे, पाण्डवों के हाथों में सौंप देंगे।" वैशम्पायन ने आगे कहा — अपने भाई के ये वचन सुनकर, धृतराष्ट्र का पुत्र सुयोधन — जो दुष्ट, निर्लज्ज, अवज्ञाकारी, अविनीत और अहंकारी था — एक महान सर्प की भाँति भारी साँसें लेते हुए क्रोध में अपने आसन से उठ खड़ा हुआ। उसने विदुर, धृतराष्ट्र, महाराज बाह्लीक, कृप, सोमदत्त, भीष्म, द्रोण और जनार्दन — वस्तुतः उन सभी की — उपेक्षा करते हुए सभा से बाहर चला गया। उस नरश्रेष्ठ को सभा छोड़कर जाते देख, उसके भाई और उसके सभी मन्त्री भी उठ खड़े हुए।
English Summary
Vaisampayana continued, — "While he, of Dasarha's race, was saying this, Dussasana addressed vindictive Duryodhana and said unto him these words in the midst of the Kurus :— 'If , O king, thou dost not will- ingly make peace with the'Pandavas. verily the Kauravas will bind thee (hand and foot) and make over thee to the son of'Kunti. Bhishma, and Drona, and thy (own) father, O bull amongst men, will make over us three, viz., Vikartana's son, thyself, and myself, to the Pandavas !* ' Vaisampayana continued, — "Hearing these words of his brother, Dhritarashtra's son, wicked, shameless, disobedient, disrespectful, and vain Suyodhana, breathing heavily like a great snake, rose up from his seat in anger, and disregarding Vidura, and Dhritarashtra andfthe great king Valhika, and Kripa, and Somadattai and Bhishma, and Drona, and Janarddana, in fact, all of them, went out of the court.
